Just completed, this little circle study is composed of various hand-dyed cotton curved strips. A strip of snow discharged black was inserted half way through. Then additional blue strips were inserted to separate it into blocks.
I added a circle of three layers of netting. Then I quilted the background and the circle with blue, white and silver threads. But the circle was not bold enough. I lightened it with tons of silver and white thread. More stitching with a dark variegated thread on the blocks.
I call it "Bounce", as it looks like the circle has depressed the line of blocks. It's fun to do these little projects.
Now on to a big one. I've already got a sketch and a pile of possible fabrics in browns, golds, oranges and fuschias! I can't wait to get started.
P.S. Bounce is heading for a show of members' work at the Blue Line Gallery in Roseville, CA. On display July 17 through August 16, 2014.
