Fear of Fire, a quilt with meaning

This quilt expresses the fear felt by so many of us in the summer of 2018 in Northern California, when the biggest forest fires ever were raging towards countless homes. The homes (log cabin blocks) seemed like big targets for the relentless fires coming down on them through the forests.

Considerable hand work was added after the machine quilting was done, to embellish the piece, which is intended to be a cozy lap quilt. It might just been to fraught with fear for that!
